How to take the reaction time test
This reaction time test measures how quickly you respond to a visual signal. Wait for the red screen to turn green, click as fast as you can, and your delay is recorded in milliseconds. You get five rounds, because a single reading is too noisy — the average is what counts. The median human visual reaction time is about 273 ms, while trained gamers often reach 150 to 180 ms. What is a good reaction time?
The median human visual reaction time is about 273 ms, so anything under 250 ms is better than most people. Competitive gamers commonly test between 150 and 180 ms, and even elite athletes rarely get below 120 ms on a visual click test.
Why did I get a 'too soon' message?
You clicked while the screen was still red, which usually means you were predicting the change rather than reacting to it. The round does not count — wait for green and let your eyes, not your guess, trigger the click.
What affects my reaction time?
Age, sleep and alertness matter most: scores slow gradually from your mid-twenties and noticeably when you are tired. Caffeine speeds reactions slightly. Hardware counts too — monitor refresh rate and input lag can add 10 to 50 ms that has nothing to do with you.
Why five rounds instead of one?
