How to test your webcam
This webcam test opens a live preview of your camera so you can check the picture before a meeting or a stream. Everything runs locally in your browser: the video is rendered straight to your screen and is never recorded, uploaded or stored anywhere. Alongside the preview you get the active resolution and frame rate, and if you have more than one camera you can switch between them to make sure the right device is selected.

FAQ
Is my video recorded or uploaded?
No. The stream goes directly from your camera to the preview on your screen and is processed entirely on your device. Nothing is captured, stored or transmitted, and closing the page or pressing stop ends camera access immediately.
Why is my webcam picture black?
Another app such as Zoom or Teams may be holding the camera — close it and press start again. Also check for a physical privacy shutter, and make sure the browser has camera permission for this site.
Why is the resolution lower than advertised?
Browsers often open a camera at a conservative default such as 720p to save bandwidth and CPU. Your hardware may still support more — video-call apps negotiate their own resolution, so a modest figure here does not mean the camera is faulty.
How do I unblock camera access?
Click the padlock or camera icon in the address bar, set the camera permission for this site back to allow, then reload the page and press start again. On mobile you may also need to allow camera access for your browser in the system settings.
